Lemuria
The Forbidden Atlas, Plate IV

The Sunken Continent. Victorian naturalists needed a land bridge to explain lemurs in both Madagascar and India, so they drew one across the Indian Ocean. Science moved on. The legend didn't.

Here it is, between Africa and Australia, sea serpents included.

From the archives of the Cheekenbocker Museum. One of six recovered plates. The aged parchment and the odd engraver's slip are part of the find.
