The land beyond the North Wind. The Greeks put it at the top of the world: a sunlit country where winter never came, gathered around a great opening at the pole.

Mercator drew it in 1595. So did whoever made this.

From the archives of the Cheekenbocker Museum. One of six recovered plates. The aged parchment and the odd engraver's slip are part of the find.

This towel

• Soft woven cotton-blend towel with the artwork printed edge to edge
• Printed one side; reverse is left plain
• Machine wash warm, tumble dry low
• Wash before first use — printed towels absorb better after a cycle
• Made to order, so please allow a little extra time before dispatch
