Bull Terrier The Birth of Venus — after Sandro Botticelli, c.1485 | Tapestry

The Birth of Venus
after Sandro Botticelli, c.1485

Painted on canvas at a time when serious work went on wood panel, which suggests it was made for a country house rather than a palace. The roses fall, the wind blows, the shell holds.

Arrived fully grown, entirely composed, and expecting to be received.

After the original in the Uffizi.
