A Happy Birthday
after Antonio Casanova y Estorach, c.1890

Casanova y Estorach was a Catalan painter who spent his career in Paris, working in the small, highly finished manner the salons rewarded: the calling cards, the paper-wrapped bouquet, the good chair moved into the light. Somebody in this house is having a very good day.

The flowers arrived. The chair was surrendered. No further effort is planned.
