Bull Terrier Vitruvian Man — after Leonardo da Vinci, c.1490 | Mug

Vitruvian Man
after Leonardo da Vinci, c.1490

A drawing in a notebook, not a painting — Leonardo working out the proportions Vitruvius had described in the first century. It is so light-sensitive that Venice shows it for a few weeks at a time, years apart.

The proportions have been rechecked. They hold.

After the original in the Gallerie dell'Accademia.
