Bull Terrier Portrait of Doctor Gachet — after Vincent van Gogh, 1890 | Beach Towel

Portrait of Doctor Gachet
after Vincent van Gogh, 1890

Gachet was the physician who looked after Van Gogh in his final weeks. The painting sold in 1990 for what was then the highest price ever paid for a work of art, and promptly disappeared from public view for decades.

The melancholy is intact. The chin is on a paw.

After the original in a private collection.
