Bull Terrier Liberty Leading The People — after Eugene Delacroix, 1830 | Long Sleeve

Liberty Leading The People
after Eugene Delacroix, 1830

Painted months after the July revolution. The French government bought it, then kept it out of sight for years, judging it rather too encouraging.

The barricade holds. The flag is up. Nobody is going home.

After the original in the Louvre.
